Our Mission

Our Mission: A Legacy of Service

The Inspiration

In the 7th century, King Al-Nejashi of Aksum opened his land to Muslim refugees fleeing persecution in Mecca — including companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). That act of compassion made Negash the first Islamic settlement in Africa and a lasting symbol of refuge, dignity, and interfaith harmony.

The Ethio Nejashi Foundation draws inspiration from that legacy. Just as King Al-Nejashi welcomed those in need, we dedicate ourselves to serving the people of the Negash region with compassion, respect, and sustainable action.

Our Vision

A thriving, self-sufficient community in the Negash region — proud of its unique heritage — where every child has access to quality education and every family has access to essential healthcare.

Our Mission

To uplift lives in the Negash region through education, healthcare, family support, and heritage preservation — honoring the historic legacy of Al-Nejashi by turning compassion into lasting change.

Our Core Pillars

Education & Economic Empowerment

We believe in sustainable change. Our programs provide academic support and vocational training — including soap making, sewing, and baking — equipping individuals and families with skills for self-reliance and dignity.

Healthcare & Nutrition

A healthy community is a strong community. We support local health facilities and initiatives focused on maternal and child health, including fighting malnutrition through education and community outreach.

Orphan Care & Family Support

Honoring the refugees who found shelter here centuries ago, we provide a safe, nurturing environment and education for orphans — giving them the stability and opportunity every child deserves.

Heritage Preservation

We are committed to protecting the Al-Nejashi Mosque and sharing its powerful story of peace, refuge, and interfaith respect with Ethiopia and the world — including support for its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our Values

  • Compassion Acting with the same kindness shown by King Al-Nejashi
  • Sustainability Building long-term solutions, not short-term aid
  • Respect Serving all people regardless of faith or background
  • Transparency Being accountable to our donors and the community we serve
